On Wednesday, the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag approved an unbudgeted expenditure of 12 billion euros ($13.01 billion) for military support to Ukraine.
The additional funding, requested by the defense ministry and foreign office, comprises 3.2 billion euros to be provided in 2023 and credit lines for the years 2024 to 2032 worth about 8.8 billion euros.
The coalition politicians on the committee stated that the money would allow Ukraine to purchase armaments with German government support.
They added that it was crucial to continue supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary. The foreign office reports that Germany has provided over 14.2 billion euros in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
