On Wednesday April 5, 2023, the Finish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency-Leena Pylvänäinen, received a warm welcome at Aghofen Warri as she visited His Imperial Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri during her three-day working visit to the Warri Kingdom.

The visit was marked by a special ceremony in which Her Excellency was christened with an Itsekiri name ‘Urowoli’ by Her Highness Olori Atuwatse III. The event was attended by dignitaries from various sectors in the kingdom, including traditional rulers, government officials, business leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps.

During the audience, His Imperial Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR and the Finish Ambassador discussed ways to strengthen the existing bilateral relationship between Finland and Nigeria, with a particular focus on the Warri Kingdom. They also explored avenues for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, education, and technology transfer.

In her remarks, Ambassador Pylvänäinen expressed her admiration for the rich cultural heritage of the Warri Kingdom and commended the visionary leadership of His Imperial Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR. She reiterated Finland’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and development in Nigeria, and pledged to work towards enhancing the ties between the two countries.

In his response, His Imperial Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR thanked the Finish Ambassador for her visit and expressed his appreciation for the longstanding partnership between Finland and Nigeria. He highlighted the potential for increased collaboration between the Warri Kingdom and Finland in various sectors, and urged the ambassador to explore opportunities for investment and trade in the kingdom.

The visit by the Finish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency- Leena Pylvanainen, is expected to further deepen the cordial relationship between Finland and Nigeria, and enhance the existing ties between the Warri Kingdom and Finland.
