Olesya Ilashuk, the new Ukrainian ambassador to Bulgaria, who faced criticism for her lack of diplomatic experience, presented her credentials to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.

Ilashuk, who was previously described by some media outlets as a “sexologist with no experience in diplomacy,” thanked Bulgaria for its support and assistance to Ukrainian refugees in a video address.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Merten, a senior US diplomat, also presented his credentials as the new US ambassador to Bulgaria.

Merten was previously the chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy in Haiti and has experience in emergency response and global talent management at the State Department.
