Midrand, Republic of South Africa – The Kenya Veterans for Peace (KVP), a dedicated group of former military personnel committed to fostering peace across Africa, made a significant visit to the Pan-African Parliament Headquarters.
This visit stems from a fruitful interaction between KVP members and the Pan-African Parliament Bureau during a recent meeting held in Nairobi. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the African Union’s 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.
The focal point of the Nairobi gathering was the exploration of avenues for collaboration between the Pan-African Parliament and KVP concerning critical matters of peace and security in the region and continent-wide.
As preparations intensify to formalize their partnership, KVP members embarked on an insightful journey to immerse themselves in the workings of the Continental Parliament. Their objective was to gain firsthand familiarity with the institution’s mandate and operational procedures.
A warm reception awaited the KVP delegation at the Pan-African Parliament, led by the Acting Clerk, Mr. Gali Massa Harou, and the Secretariat members.
The Kenya Veterans for Peace (KVP) is composed of retired military personnel across various sister services of the Kenya Defence Forces. This collective holds a prominent role in a range of United Nations (UN)/Africa Union (AU) initiatives, encompassing Peacekeeping, Peace Building, Security Operations, Anti-Human Trafficking Operations, Climate Change advocacy, and Development Programs. Their involvement has spanned diverse regions within Kenya, across the African continent, and globally.
