Temi Otedola, a well-known actress and media personality, recently made her stage debut in the play “Motherland the Musical.”
The production, directed and produced by Nigerian theater veteran Bolanle Austen Peters, featured an ensemble cast including Francis Onwochei, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, and Uzo Osimkpa. In the play, Otedola plays “Young Hassana,” a Fulani girl dealing with forbidden love while navigating the political and social upheaval of 1957 Nigeria.
The play, set in modern-day Nigeria but with references to the past, offers a fast-paced, educational, and emotional look at the country’s history and current state.
Otedola, who was born in Nigeria and educated in the UK, has proven herself to be a talented and versatile performer through her acting roles in projects such as the Netflix original film “Citation” and the Amazon Prime original “The Man for the Job.”
