Wike frustrated Peter Obi out of PDP, says Bwala

Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson of the Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State of causing the resignation of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from the PDP.

Obi had been one of the leading presidential aspirants of the PDP before he resigned his membership days before the party’s presidential primary elections.

According to Bwala, the party had planned to zone the presidency to the South-East in the spirit of equity, but some leaders of the party from the Southern region accused their northern counterparts of flouting the unwritten rule of power rotation between the South and the North.

Bwala alleged that during the internal agitation or advocacy for the power to shift to the South, Governor Wike worked to ensure the emergence of a northerner as the National Chairman of the party, thinking that if the Chairman came from the North, the presidential candidate would come from the South.

He accused Wike of ensuring that the outcome of the presidential poll left the people’s poll because of the growing conversation that the presidency should be zoned to the South-East when it was agreed that it would go to the South.

Bwala also alleged that Wike frustrated Obi’s leadership position in the party in Anambra. Therefore, Bwala claimed that Wike frustrated Obi out of the party.
