During a campaign rally held at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Port Harcourt, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State urged the electorate to follow the pattern adopted by the state government when casting their vote for the forthcoming election.
He advised his supporters to listen to their local political leaders who had been instructed on which presidential candidate to support.
The governor warned that he would not support candidates who threatened his political survival and asked the supporters if they would allow those who did not want them to exist to win.
Although a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Wike had previously decided not to support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and had led a group of governors in rebelling against the PDP national leadership.
He also commended the APC governors for insisting on power shift to the south for equity and justice.
