According to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi central, polling units were invaded by thugs in military camouflage on Saturday during the election in Kogi State.

The armed thugs reportedly snatched ballot boxes, took away election materials, and dispersed voters in several areas including Anyigba Dekina towns.

Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led state government of hiring the thugs and narrated how they attempted to abduct an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after destroying the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine.

She also reported that hundreds of polling units were destroyed in Okehi and Okene Local Government Areas of the North-Central State. Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that the APC thugs carried machetes and guns, with some wearing military uniforms, but not genuine military personnel.

She stated that whenever her party was leading significantly, the boxes were destroyed, and in some instances, the soldiers intercepted the thugs and requested their identification cards to prove that they were members of the force.
