On Friday, Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), responded to the claim made by Tinubu’s presidential campaign council that there was rigging in the southeast. Atiku stated that this claim is evidence that the election was fraught with irregularities. In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku expressed his disappointment that the APC presidential campaign council had continued to attack and ridicule Nigerians whose mandate they stole.
Atiku pointed out that Festus Keyamo’s claim of massive rigging in the southeast, and the APC’s plan to challenge the votes in that region, supported their position that the election was rigged. He further stated that this was why they were seeking the cancellation of the results.
Atiku also commented on Tinubu’s failed attempt to replicate the developments of Lagos across Nigeria, citing the fact that the people of Lagos rejected him at the polls. He accused Tinubu and his supporters of unleashing thugs on the people of the state, and yet still losing.
Atiku concluded by urging the APC to save their energy for the legal proceedings to come. He stated that Nigerians and the world would witness how the APC stole the mandate of the people. Additionally, he called on the APC to explain to Nigerians why there had been celebrations in Colombia while there was silence in Nigeria since the announcement of their candidate’s victory.
