According to Phrank Shaibu, special assistant on public communications to Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential poll was a “pyrrhic” victory and will be short-lived. Shaibu stated that Tinubu was rejected in Lagos, despite his campaign being anchored on his records in the state. Shaibu urged Nigerians to reject Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, in the March 11 governorship election in the state.
Shaibu accused Tinubu of unleashing thugs on the people of Lagos, whom he claimed to love, and losing the election in Ikeja local government and Bourdillon, Ikoyi, where he lives. He also alleged that Tinubu will once again try to unleash violence on the people in Lagos, ahead of the governorship election to ensure that his puppet, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is re-elected.
Shaibu revealed that Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, commended Jim Risch, a US senator, for taking a position that the election was marred with irregularities, and commended the Guardian Newspaper of London, the Financial Times of London, and The PUNCH for their editorials on the conduct of the presidential election.
It should be noted that on March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election, but the result was rejected by major opposition parties, and the conduct of the election was criticised by some international and local media platforms.
