We won election without Peter Obi, says Otti

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti, claimed that he had won an election even before Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, joined the party.

Otti stated that when he ran under APGA in 2015, Peter Obi was not in the picture, and they have evidence that he won that election.

Otti added that when they were joining the Labour Party, Peter Obi had not yet joined, and it took about a week before Obi contacted him to say he had purchased the presidential nomination form and was joining the party.

However, Otti mentioned that they were prepared to fight as they did in 2015 and that the votes they garnered in Abia could have been achieved without Obi, although the margin may have been smaller.

Otti also acknowledged Obi’s contribution to their campaign, as he campaigned for them about four times, and they won six out of eight House of Representatives seats.

Nevertheless, Otti reiterated that they had won an election before in Abia without Peter Obi, and he considers him a great addition to their campaign.

I will run Peter Obi's Anambra model of reduction of the cost of governance, says Abia Governor-Elect Alex Otti claims. He promises to run a "lean government" and support the private sector to create jobs. #CTVTweets#PoliticsToday pic.twitter.com/STniv7cAcz
