Students in their final classes have been given permission by the Lagos State Ministry of Education to physically attend Chrisland High School, Opebi, for learning ahead of their upcoming examinations.

This decision comes as an update on the case of the late Whitney Adeniran, a student who passed away during the school’s inter-house sports competition held at Agege Stadium.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, stated that the school will remain closed until all necessary judicial processes and ongoing administrative inquiries within the purview of the Office of Education Quality Assurance and other agencies, are completed. The Commissioner also disclosed that arrangements are being made for other categories of students to return to school.

Temporary permission has been granted to the final classes, which comprise JSS3 and SS3 students, to enable them to participate in their terminal examinations. The Lagos State Joint Task Force, which oversees the implementation of the child protection policy and safeguarding, consisting of ministries, departments, and agencies such as the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Office of Education Quality Assurance, and others, will continue to engage with Whitney Adeniran’s family, according to the Commissioner.
