Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in a closely contested match, with Moses Simon scoring from a penalty kick to secure the vital points.
The win put Nigeria at the top of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers group with nine points from four games, two points ahead of Guinea-Bissau.
The Eagles’ next matches will be away against Sierra Leone and at home against Sao Tome and Principe. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast in 2024.
