On Saturday, the police confirmed that Portable, the controversial singer also known as Habeeb Okikiola, has been arrested and is facing over six charges. This follows the circulation of viral videos on Tuesday depicting Portable in a confrontation with police officers who were sent to his recreational center in Ogun State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed details of the case against Portable in a series of tweets responding to accusations that the police had not acted against MC Oluomo for his comments.
Adejobi stated that Portable had numerous charges to answer for, including resisting arrest, injuring a police officer, and assaulting someone in Otta who filed a petition to the CP Ogun. There are also several pending cases of attacks and assaults against him, and he will be investigated based on complaints from members of the public.
The police in Ogun State confirmed Portable’s arrest on Friday, stating that it was done after giving him a 72-hour ultimatum to comply with a police invitation. The law will take its course, and Portable will have to appear in court to face the charges against him. He does not have constitutional immunity.
