The Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has discredited a fraudulent Twitter account that has been in existence since 2020. According to the PTC, the Twitter handle, @TransitionNgr (https://twitter.com/TransitionNgr), was created prior to the establishment and inauguration of the council by dishonest individuals.
The Director of Information for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation/Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, Willie Bassey, issued a statement on Sunday in this regard. The PTC clarified that the official Twitter account of the council is @FGNPTC (https://twitter.com/FGNPTC/).
The statement reads, “The Presidential Transition Council has been made aware of a false Twitter handle, @TransitionNgr (https://twitter.com/TransitionNgr), created by unscrupulous persons in April 2020, before the establishment and inauguration of the Council. The PTC has no affiliation with the fake Twitter account and wishes to emphasize that the Presidential Transition Council was approved by the President in February of this year and subsequently inaugurated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation/Chairman of PTC, Boss Mustapha, thus exposing the perpetrators’ irresponsible and deliberate attempt to disseminate false and misleading information to the unsuspecting public.
“To clarify, the authentic Twitter account of the Presidential Transition Council is @FGNPTC (FGN PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION COUNCIL) (https://twitter.com/FGNPTC/). Through this statement, the public is advised to ignore the fake Twitter account and rely on the official account handle of PTC for factual and reliable information about the transition program’s activities.
“The PTC assures that all committee members are working diligently for the inauguration’s success on May 29, 2023, and that the transition council’s activities are progressing as planned.”
