Clearing agents in Nigeria’s maritime industry have reported that 85% of imported used vehicles are being vandalized by shipping companies and terminal operators.
This has resulted in job losses for many agents, as importers stop giving them jobs due to missing parts caused by the terminals and shipping companies.
The Youth Leader of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents reported that a lot of professionals had lost valuable importers because of the problems.
Despite complaints from the agents, no action has been taken by the terminals’ management.
The General Manager of PTML urged the agents to provide details of affected vehicles to respond to these allegations.
