Renowned lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, has raised concerns about the health of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that Kanu is experiencing profuse nose bleeding after reportedly coming into contact with a tuberculosis patient in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Ejimakor made this revelation in a tweet on Monday, where he stated that his associate, Barr Mandela, had visited Kanu at the DSS detention facility and shared Kanu’s health update with him.
According to Ejimakor’s tweet, Kanu instructed him to make it public that he had experienced an episode of nose bleeding recently and that the DSS had transferred a detainee who had been diagnosed with tuberculosis to his cell block. Ejimakor expressed concern over this development, calling it “ominous.” He further highlighted the legality of Kanu’s detention, stating, “Except for failed nations, there’s no nation that detains a man after his incarceration has been municipally and internationally declared illegal, with compensation and apology awarded to him.”
The health status of Kanu, who has been in DSS custody since his arrest in June 2021, has been a subject of concern among his supporters and legal team.
