Cameroon – French football sensation Kylian Mbappé expressed his joy and gratitude during his inaugural visit to Cameroon, his country of origin. The 24-year-old football star, born in Paris to a Cameroonian father, described feeling honored and overwhelmed by the warm reception and love he has received from the Cameroonian people.
Football enthusiasts eagerly anticipated Mbappé’s arrival, highlighting the significant impact his visit has on Cameroon and the entire continent. One fan emphasized that his presence symbolizes the importance of returning to one’s roots and acknowledged the pride felt throughout the country.
During his visit, Mbappé met with Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Ngute, along with other officials. It marked his first return to Cameroon since his teenage years. The football prodigy also engaged with fellow Cameroonian sports figures, such as MMA star Francis Ngannou, sharing smiles and camaraderie.
Mbappé participated in various sporting activities, including basketball with former Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah, where he drew a crowd of enthusiastic spectators. He also showcased his football skills by playing against the Cameroonian team Vent d’Etoudi FC.
Additionally, Mbappé dedicated time to humanitarian work through his foundation, which focuses on empowering young individuals to achieve their dreams. He visited a school for children with hearing and speech disabilities, a project supported by his foundation. His commitment to building a brighter future for Cameroon was evident, as he expressed his dedication to the country’s progress.
The footballer’s future with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), remains uncertain after announcing his decision not to extend his contract beyond 2024. Since joining PSG in 2017, initially on loan from Monaco before a record-breaking transfer fee of €180 million, Mbappé has showcased his immense talent by scoring 212 goals in 260 games for the club.
