Nigerian music icon D’banj, also known as The Kokomaster and Bangalee, is celebrating two decades in the industry with a brand new single, “Since ’04.”

The song serves as a tribute to D’banj’s remarkable journey, which began in 2004 when he transitioned from engineering to full-time music with a record deal on Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits label. His debut single, “Tongolo,” released in 2005 on the album “No Long Thing,” became an instant hit, solidifying his place in the Afrobeats scene.

Over the years, D’banj has churned out numerous chart-toppers including “Fall In Love,” “Oliver Twist,” and “Emergency,” establishing himself as a powerhouse in the Afrobeats genre.

“Since ’04” is more than just a new song; it’s a heartfelt reflection. “This track is really special to me,” D’banj says. “It’s one of my favorites yet. Even after all these years, I feel like I’m just getting started.”

He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the influential Mo’ Hits crew, a group that included music giants like Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, D’Prince, and Kayswitch. “Those guys are my brothers,” D’banj says. “We had an incredible team, and together we pushed the boundaries of Afrobeats. We showed the world what was possible.”
