Good news for residents of Badagry as the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) announced the launch of BRT buses in the historic town. Lawmaker Solomon Bonu praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Speaker Mudasiru Obasa for approving the project, highlighting its potential to ease traffic congestion and create job opportunities for locals.
The BRT system is expected to roll out on May 29th with an initial deployment of 10 buses. This will be followed by an expansion in early June with five medium-capacity and five high-capacity buses. To further enhance the service, LAMATA plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and construct a dedicated CNG station in Badagry.
Badagry Local Government Chairman Olusegun Onilude welcomed the project, emphasizing its importance in integrating Badagry with the wider Lagos transportation network. He urged residents to embrace and protect the new system, assuring LAMATA of the local government’s full cooperation.
