Badagry, Lagos – May 13, 2024 – Residents of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) can expect a smoother ride in the near future. The council, led by Executive Chairman Hon. Gbenu Henugbe Joseph, has announced the commencement of construction on the long-awaited Salvation Army Primary School Road in Boglo Way.
This project is part of the Lagos State government’s ambitious 114 roads initiative, championed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The initiative aligns with the THEMES+ agenda, focusing on infrastructural development to improve the lives of Lagosians.
“The construction of Salvation Army Primary School Road aligns perfectly with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision for improved infrastructure,” Chairman Joseph stated during a stakeholders’ forum held on May 13th. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between residents and the contractor, Phazam International Ventures Ltd, to minimize disruption and expedite completion.
The project, awarded to Phazam Ltd. following a successful bidding process, boasts a six-month timeline. Engr. Segun Wahab, Director of Phazam International Ventures, assured those present that the project would encompass comprehensive drainage systems on both sides of the road and the installation of solar streetlights. This 520-meter road, stretching from Seme-Badagry Road to Boglo Village with a width of 7.3 meters on both sides, is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
Council Engineer Engr. Olajide Abejide provided a detailed breakdown of the project specifications during the forum, ensuring transparency and setting the stage for successful implementation. The forum also served as a platform to engage all stakeholders directly or indirectly impacted by the construction.
The 114 roads initiative, launched in 2022 with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s approval, is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Conference 57 Chairmen, a group representing various LCDAs in Lagos State.
The news of the construction project was met with enthusiasm from the community. Comrade Aladeotan David Sunday, Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Badagry West, expressed gratitude to Chairman Joseph for his dedication to advancing the progress of the locality. Mr. Gbenu Oloyode, CDA Chairman of Bapo-Boglo, echoed similar sentiments, commending the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to community development. He pledged the continued support of his community, highlighting the long-awaited nature of this project.
