The Otugbuwa family marked a significant milestone with the celebration of the first-ever Otugbuwa Day in Igbogbo. The Otugbuwa family, one of the first settlers in the Igbogbo Kingdom, is renowned for its rich heritage and esteemed reputation. Known for their contributions to the development and cultural preservation of the region, the family’s legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of Igbogbo’s history.
The day commenced with prayers led by both Muslim and Christian clerics, highlighting the family’s commitment to unity and spiritual inclusivity. The prayers were dedicated to honoring the memories of departed family members and seeking blessings and protection for the living.
Chief Sefiu Ogunyemi, the Olootu of the Otugbuwa family, expressed profound gratitude to everyone present. “Today, we come together not only to celebrate but also to remember and honor our ancestors. Their legacies live on in us, and we pray for their peaceful repose,” he remarked.
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Daini Olusesan, who is a prominent member of the Otugbuwa family was in attendance to grace the occasion.
Chief Sefiu Ogunyemi further emphasized the importance of unity and community, encouraging the younger generation to uphold the values and traditions of their forebears. “Otugbuwa Day is not just about remembering the past; it’s about strengthening our bonds and looking forward to a future built on the foundations laid by those who came before us,” he added.
