Isolo, Nigeria – Hundreds of senior citizens in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) benefited from a Free Medical Initiative Led by Olasoju Adebayo-led administration.
The program included hypertension, diabetes, eye screenings, dental care, laboratory testing, and general consultations. For women, cervical cancer screening was also offered to ensure early detection and prevention.
Council Chairman Adebayo Olasoju announced that the event, dubbed “Care for the Elderly,” is part of his commitment to ensuring healthy long lives for residents of the council area. He emphasized the importance of healthcare delivery in line with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.
The Council Manager, Mrs. Mojisola Ogabi, commended the elderly for their participation and urged them to prioritize their health. Dr. Anne Okonma, Medical Officer of Health, expressed satisfaction with the council boss’s commitment to healthcare for the elderly.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the free medical treatment and drugs, which saved them significant costs. Omoniyi Balogun recalled how a previous outreach program prevented him from needing limb amputation.
Regent of Isolo, High Chief Saliu Wasiu Arowo-oye, encouraged beneficiaries to seek regular medical attention to maintain their health.
