Ikoyi, Lagos – October 22, 2024 – The Lagos State Government has taken a firm stance against environmental nuisance, arresting five individuals, including a birthday celebrant, for obstructing traffic and disrupting public order.
Those apprehended include the event planner, Omolara Ajetumobi, the celebrant, Ogundare Olubunmi, musician Ayodele Busuyi, sound engineer Owoeye Adedayo, and vendor Akinola Akinkunmi. The arrests took place on Saturday, October 19, following complaints from residents about excessive noise and litter from the event.
According to the Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Philip Wahab, the event caused significant traffic congestion and littering, inconveniencing residents and motorists. The Lagos State Government has emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that anyone found violating state regulations will face legal consequences.
The suspects will be arraigned in court in the coming days, facing charges that could result in fines or imprisonment. This action is part of a broader crackdown by the Lagos State Government on activities that disrupt public life and violate environmental standards.
