Bariga, Lagos – A new digital platform, Jama Jama, has been launched to connect Lagos artisans with potential clients. The app, developed by local entrepreneur Mr. Toheeb Sodiq, aims to streamline the process of finding and hiring skilled verified workers.
The official launch event, held on Wednesday at the Bariga Local Council Secretariat Legislative Hall, saw the unveiling of the app and its potential benefits. Miss Abiola Sodiq, the Chief Operating Officer of Jama Jama, highlighted the app’s user-friendly interface and its ability to connect certified artisans with individuals and organizations.
How it Works
The Jama Jama app operates on a commission-based model. Artisans such as mechanics, painters, plumbers, electricians, tailors, welders, bakers, and carpenters register on the platform and undergo a verification process. When a client hires an artisan through the app, Jama Jama charges a service fee of 5% of the total payment. For example, if a client pays an artisan N10,000, Jama Jama will retain N500 as the service fee, transferring N9,500 to the artisan. Payments are made directly to Jama Jama, and the platform ensures that the remaining amount is transferred to the artisan within 24 hours of job completion.
Support from Local Officials
Local government officials have expressed their support for the initiative. Hon. Idowu Adewale, a representative from the Youth and Social Development department in Shomolu Local Council, emphasized the app’s potential to eliminate risks associated with hiring unskilled or unreliable workers. He urged artisans to take advantage of the platform and continue to improve their skills.
Hon. Ruth Ayomide, Special Assistant to the Somolu Local Government Council Chairman, also praised the Jama Jama app. She highlighted its ability to connect artisans with clients, increase visibility, and provide a secure platform for transactions.

Mr. Emeka Okwuokei, CEO of -R-Entertainment, acknowledged the benefits of the Jama Jama app, including:
Increased visibility

With the growing demand for skilled labor in Lagos, the Jama Jama app offers a promising solution for both artisans and clients. By leveraging technology, the platform aims to revolutionize the way people connect with skilled professionals.
