Lagos, Nigeria – Mitsura, an 18-year-old woman, was the victim of a horrifying attack in the Igando area of Lagos State on Thursday. In a shocking display of violence, her neighbour, Fatima, bit off her tongue during a heated argument over a shared bucket.
The incident escalated rapidly, with the verbal dispute turning physical. Fatima, in her early thirties, allegedly strangled Mitsura before inflicting the gruesome injury.
Local residents, including the landlady, Mama Ibadan, were shocked by the brutality of the attack. Despite previous attempts to mediate the conflict between the two women, the situation tragically spiraled out of control.
Mitsura was rushed to the hospital but was initially rejected by three different private healthcare facilities. She was eventually admitted to Igando General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Fatima, who attempted to flee the scene after the attack, was apprehended by neighbours and is now in police custody. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, was not immediately available for comment.
