Ketu, Lagos – Lion Ogunrinola Oluwabusuyi, First Vice President of the Lagos Esteem Lions Club and advocate for community health, led a major health outreach this weekend, drawing over 2,000 Lagos residents to The Apostolic Church Nigeria’s LAWNA International Convention Ground in Ketu. This outreach, hosted in collaboration with the Good Home Better Society Foundation, provided a range of essential medical services under the theme “My Health, My Way.”
From dental checkups to vision tests and general health consultations, attendees received much-needed services entirely free of charge. The outreach featured dental scaling and polishing, eye exams, blood pressure monitoring, and blood sugar screenings. In addition, medications were made available on-site, allowing individuals with specific health needs to receive prescriptions on the spot.
Oluwabusuyi, also known as the founder of the “Marriage Without Tears” program, expressed his deep commitment to promoting community wellness and underscored the importance of strong family health as a foundation for societal growth. “Health is wealth,” he stated. “Our goal is to reach out to the community with love and encourage people to care for one another. Strong, healthy families lead to a peaceful society, and by helping those around us, we all benefit.”
The event is part of an ongoing series of outreach programs organized by the Good Home Better Society Foundation and the Lagos Esteem Lions Club. Earlier this year, the foundation launched a hunger relief program and a prior health outreach, both of which were widely attended. Oluwabusuyi hinted that another outreach is already being planned before the year ends.
In an effort to sustain its impactful initiatives, the foundation has also produced a movie titled New Wine, with proceeds directed toward funding future community support programs. “We don’t want to depend solely on donations,” Oluwabusuyi explained. “By creating something of value like this film, we can generate our own funds to keep our community work going.”
The Lions Club’s commitment to vision and eye health was a focal point of the outreach. Lion Funmilayo Ajayi, Secretary and Activities Chairperson of the Lagos Esteem Lions Club, ensured that participants received necessary eye care, with adults provided free glasses and children receiving specialized prescription lenses.
This health outreach marks a significant step in the Lagos Esteem Lions Club and Good Home Better Society Foundation’s mission to enhance community well-being in Lagos. With a focus on health and accessibility, the organizations aim to make quality healthcare a lasting and reachable goal for communities across the region.
