President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a significant stop in Lagos Island on Friday, January 3, 2025, visiting the historic Iga Idunganran Palace to meet with Oba Rilwan Akiolu. His convoy’s arrival drew a massive crowd, as enthusiastic Lagosians lined the streets to catch a glimpse of their leader.

The President stepped out of his armored vehicle to acknowledge the cheering crowd, waving to supporters who had gathered along the bustling streets of the former capital. Security was tight as residents celebrated the rare opportunity to see Tinubu up close.

During his visit to the palace, Tinubu and the Lagos monarch discussed pressing national issues. According to the President, the conversation focused on addressing Nigeria’s challenges and utilizing traditional values to foster unity and economic prosperity.

Sharing details of the visit on X (formerly Twitter), Tinubu expressed his gratitude and admiration for the rich cultural heritage of the Iga Idunganran Palace. “I had the honor of visiting His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace, a site rich in culture and tradition,” he wrote.

He also used the platform to thank Lagosians for their warm reception. “People are at the heart of our mission. Thank you, Lagos Island, for the warm and rapturous welcome this afternoon. Your support fuels my determination to create a brighter future for a Nigeria that works for everyone—one we will all be proud to call our country.”

The President called on citizens to remain hopeful, emphasizing the importance of collective effort and prayer in building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
