
Lagos, January 4, 2025 – Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has taken decisive action to bolster food security and agricultural productivity in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
At a distribution event, rural farmers received essential farm inputs, including fertilisers, land tillers, crop sprayers, and innovative solutions like Agric Zymes, to boost yields and improve livelihoods. Represented by his Special Adviser, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, Senator Abiru emphasized the initiative’s goal of addressing food insecurity, improving family welfare, and enhancing Nigeria’s GDP.
Stakeholders praised the effort. Mr. Arutu Ademola from the Cocoa Research Institute commended the senator and President Tinubu for their grassroots-focused approach. Farmers, represented by AFAN South West Chairman, Otunba (Dr.) Femi Oke, celebrated the support and announced plans for a discounted farm produce showcase between now and April.
This initiative builds on Senator Abiru’s past efforts, including providing resources to over 300 crop farmers and 100 livestock farmers and forming cooperatives to enhance access to agribusiness financing.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Alhaji Jimoh Tijani, Princess Adebimpe Akinsola, and others, reflecting widespread support for Abiru’s impactful agricultural interventions.
Farmers expressed gratitude and hope, signaling readiness to maximize the resources provided. The initiative stands as a model for addressing food challenges through strategic grassroots engagement.
