My son’s ears were severely affected, lamented Mrs. Adenike Okunlaya, the mother of a three-year-old boy who was brutally assaulted by his teacher at Christ-Miltos Primary School in Ikorodu. The incident, which occurred on January 6, has left the child requiring medical care and sparked outrage within the community.

Mrs. Okunlaya, who also works as a teacher at the same school, described her anguish after discovering what had happened to her son. “I was in my class when I overheard someone shouting, ‘Write six; write six.’ Later, a colleague showed me a video of the teacher beating my son. I was heartbroken,” she recounted. Despite her son previously complaining about being punished by the teacher, she had dismissed his concerns as normal disciplinary action.

The now-dismissed teacher reportedly had a history of physical abuse toward pupils, according to Mrs. Okunlaya. She revealed that the school management had received multiple complaints from parents and addressed the issue during staff meetings, yet the teacher continued with her abusive behavior.

Following the release of the viral video exposing the assault, the school suspended the teacher and later terminated her employment. The young boy was taken to Ikorodu General Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the assault.
