Allegations of extortion at Lagos Airport have led to the dismissal of an employee from a ground handling company. Following claims by a passenger that he was extorted of N100,000 in December, the company launched an internal investigation, which confirmed the misconduct.
The passenger, Oyewale Oyesiji, a first-time traveler from Osun State, reported the incident while preparing for his journey to South Africa. Despite denials from the accused employee, the investigative panel found compelling evidence to validate the claims.
A company representative disclosed that the decision to terminate the employee was made to uphold organizational standards. “The management has acted decisively by dismissing the individual involved. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and corruption,” the source stated.
Vanessa Uansohia, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, reiterated the organization’s dedication to integrity and professionalism. She stated that any act of extortion, harassment, or unethical behavior directly contravenes the company’s core values and employee code of conduct.
