Ikeja, Lagos – A significant gathering of South-West governors is currently underway at Lagos House, Ikeja, with regional development and collaboration at the forefront of discussions. Convened by the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the meeting officially kicked off at 12:15 p.m., following the arrival of all six governors.

The Lagos House grounds came alive with activity from 10:55 a.m. as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was warmly welcomed by Governor Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde. Shortly after, Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Biodun Oyebaniji (Ekiti), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun) joined their counterparts, completing the lineup for this crucial regional summit.

Since assuming leadership, Governor Sanwo-Olu has been at the helm of policies designed to accelerate growth and foster greater regional integration across the South-West. This high-level gathering builds on a previous meeting held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, where he was elected Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum without opposition.

The governors’ priorities for the six states include advancing agriculture, ensuring food sustainability, fostering economic partnerships, strengthening regional security, and the highly anticipated South-West Development Commission. Today’s discussions are expected to focus on these pressing issues, with the governors set to chart a coordinated strategy for tackling them effectively and driving sustainable progress in the region.
