Music producer Adey has made startling accusations against officers of the Lagos State Police Command, claiming they harassed him and attempted to kill him during a traffic encounter on Sunday.
Adey alleged in a post shared on X that officers forcefully grabbed his vehicle’s steering wheel, causing the car to veer into a ditch, and that one of them fired shots. He further claimed they falsely accused him of trying to harm them.
I’m so tired of this. So tired of naij. So tired of Nigerian police. https://t.co/qz1vdTPNnR

Nigerian police shot at me today, claimed I tried to kill them, and almost caused a serious crash by grabbing the steering wheel and driving me into a ditch,” Adey wrote. He described the officer’s actions as an attempt to “cause a serious accident” while he was driving on Ikorodu Road.
The Lagos State Police Command has not issued any official response. Efforts to reach Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, for comments have been unsuccessful.
Adey, who left an engineering career in the United States to pursue music in Nigeria, has worked with prominent artists like Olamide, and Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti.
The allegations have drawn significant public attention, with calls for the authorities to investigate the incident and hold any culpable officers accountable.
